Respite Weekends

This is a monthly program during the non-summer months that gives an opportunity for a child to experience a camping experience. Counselors and qualified medical personnel will care for children in a multipurpose, heated/cooled facility at Camp CAMP located 10 miles southeast of Kerrville, Texas. Activities include canoeing, horseback riding, swimming, arts and crafts, outdoor cooking and nature activities. Families must enroll their child(ren) in the Respite Club in order to participate in the weekend. Once a family is a Respite Club member, they must apply for each weekend as applications become available. Resite club dues are $60 for the first family member, and $10 per additional member. The dues are good from September through May.

The cost for a weekend range from $100-$280. Our adjusted fee - called a CAMPership- enables families to pay according to income level. In order to qualify for a CAMPership, families must submit copies of their 2007 1040 and supporting W-2's. To use agency funding, CAMP will need a letter from the case manager stating the agency will be responsible for payment.

Most Respite Weekends begin on Saturday with check-in from 10 am to 11 am and end on Sunday with pick-up at 3:00 pm. Confirmation letters, map, and packing list are mailed or emailed approximately one week prior to the event.

Cancellation Policy: If cancellation is within 48 hours of the Respite event, CAMP will retain 10% of the event fee. No-shows will be charged 25% of the event fee. Parents of children who have agency funding will be responsible for the cancellation fee.
