Teen and Adult Day Adventure (TADA)

Teen and Adult Day Adventure (TADA) is a supervised social program for teenagers and young adults, ages 14 to 35, with a developmental disability. TADA is scheduled for one Saturday event per month. Events can include IMAX movies, sporting events, concerts, and other San Antonio area attractions. Once a family has enrolled to be part of the Respite Club, they may register for each TADA event as it becomes available. Registration for TADA can occur as early as one month prior to the event and can be no later than Friday the week before the event.

The cost of the event is paid for by the parents or guardians. CAMP looks for economical venues and inquires about group rates and other specific discounts offered by the vendor. CAMP does not provide transportation for TADA events; transportation must be provided by the parents or guardians who must also complete a check in process with the TADA Supervisor.  A Pick-up/Drop-off form must be submitted if the parents or guardians have arranged transportation with anyone other than themselves.

The TADA events for 2009-2010 have been exciting and enthusiastically attended. This year’s highlights have included a Spurs gamenicole.jpg, the Witte Museum, the San Antcameron.jpgonio Stock Show & Rodeo, and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. However, nothing generated more excitement fromTADA members than when we announced that we would be going to Morgan’s Wonderland in March, before its grand opening!

 

Morgan’s Wonderland is a new amusement park specifically designed to meet the needs of those with special needs. It is open to everyone, encouraging inclusion and guaranteeing a great time. The March TADA group hit the ground running, and experienced all that they could in the 4.5 hour event. Also during our visit, a national news agency was interviewing Gordon Hartman and his daughter, Morgan (the park’s namesake and inspiration).
