The Summer Camp program provides CAMPers who have special needs – and their siblings – an opportunity to spend a week at CAMP doing things they often have no opportunity to experience anywhere else. Volunteers are required to complete Pre-CAMP Training every year and may sign up for one or more weeks of CAMP during the summer. Volunteers can earn up to 99 service hours per session. Minimum age to volunteer is 14-years-old. This program is housed at our Camp CAMP facility at 515 Skyline Drive in Center Point, TX 78010.
Respite Camp program provides opportunities for CAMPers similar to those offered during Summer CAMP, but operates one weekend each month from September-May. Staff and volunteers with experience from Summer CAMP require no further training; first-time volunteers must attend a training session on Friday night of their first Weekend CAMP, from 7-10 p.m. Volunteers can earn up to 25 service hours per weekend. Minimum age to volunteer is 14-years-old. This program is housed at our Camp CAMP facility at 515 Skyline Drive in Center Point, TX 78010.
PNO program offers CAMPers aged 6-months to 13-years a fun and enriching evening of activities one Friday night each month from September-May, while offering these CAMPers’ parents an evening off. This program is housed at CAMP’s Executive Offices at the Boorda Center on Lackland Air Force Base (AFB) in San Antonio, TX 78236.
TADA program offers CAMPers aged 14-years and up a fun opportunity to interact with their peers through a field trip into the Greater San Antonio community. TADA trips may include visits to theme parks, the rodeo, museums, plays, movies, sporting events, or a variety of other activities based on what is happening each month in the San Antonio area. Volunteers can earn up to 5 service hours per event. Minimum age to volunteer is 14-years-old.
Medical volunteers, such as doctors, residents, medical students, nurses, nursing students, and respiratory therapists are needed for most of the CAMP programs to assist in meeting the medical needs of our campers and staff. Professional volunteers such as physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, case managers, teachers, psychologists, social workers, and others assist counselors in providing the routine care needs of the CAMPers and assisting with activities.
Summer Staff must be able to commit to the whole summer and complete Lead Staff and/or Pre-CAMP Training every year. Positions are available every summer and include: leadership staff, cabin counselors, activity leaders, lifeguards, maintenance, housekeeping, chefs, and dishwashers. Minimum age to apply is 16-years-old.
