Savannah's Story

          For Savannah, CAMP has been a sanctuary of belonging and acceptance for the last 15 years. As Savannah transitioned into adulthood, she had fewer opportunities to socialize with her peers. CAMP provided her with a place to come out of her shell and be her true self. Before CAMP, her mother, Theresa Washington, never dreamed that Savannah would have the courage to be away from her overnight or have an opportunity to experience the joys of participating in activities like canoeing. Yet as she read the memory book documenting her progress throughout the week at CAMP, Theresa was amazed at Savannah’s growth, proving that she is capable of even more than her mother imagined.

          CAMP's tremendous impact on families is echoed in Savannah’s Story. It serves as a testament to CAMP’s mission to provide individuals with disabilities, like Savannah, with opportunities for growth, inclusion, and empowerment.
